More than 200 people are in line for an apartment at the Dan River Falls commercial and residential project being built at the former Dan River Inc. White Mill.
“We are going to start leasing units, hopefully, by the end of this year,” Dave Vos, development project manager for The Alexander Company, told the Register & Bee during an interview following a tour of the facility Tuesday.
Overall construction on the commercial and residential project will “trickle over” into the first quarter of 2025, Vos said.
The $85 million project’s first phase will include 280,000 square feet of residential space and 150 units, as well as 140,000 square feet of commercial space. The second phase will have an additional 40 units and cover 84,000 square feet.
There are 215 people on a waiting list to be first in line for a unit at the development, with a total of 647 people who have signed up to receive notification when applications will be accepted, said Joe Alexander, president of The Alexander Company, the project’s developer.
Representatives from the company gave an update on the project to members of the Danville Industrial Authority during their meeting Tuesday morning before leading a tour of the site.
