DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) — Leaders from across Southside came to the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research on Thursday for the 4th Annual Southern Virginia Regional Housing Summit. Leaders discussed solutions to help curb the housing crisis in southwest Virginia.
The transformation of an old textile mill into Dan River Falls, a 150-unit apartment complex, is being hailed as a model for affordable housing in Southside Virginia. The project was a focal point at the Southern Virginia Regional Housing Summit. Unveiled in December 2024 by David Vos and the Alexander Company, the complex dedicates 25 percent of its units to workforce housing.
“We’re very happy with the success of the project it’s had so far, we are almost 100% leased up in our first phase,” said Vos, development project manager.
An additional 40 units are set to open in December.
