Virginia Senator Mark Warner stopped in Danville Friday afternoon to see the White Mill Project, now known as Dan River Falls, and to speak to local leaders about housing issues across the state and country.

Since 2017, crews have been working on revitalizing Danville’s historic White Mill into something more amazing. The Alexander Company is turning the old mill into a 190-unit apartment building that also has commercial business space.

Following the tour of the building, Senator Warner spoke with Danville and Pittsylvania County leaders about housing. He said it’s something that needs to be done about housing needs since it had been put on the back burner since COVID-19.

“Housing is my top priority,” Senator Warner said. “We gotta get it done. Particularly during COVID-19, under President Trump and Biden, the federal government put out five trillion dollars. The amazing thing about that was in that five trillion dollars, we really did nothing for housing.”
