Originally a massive cold storage facility, at the time of renovation National Terminal was condemned, in bankruptcy and contaminated.

The use of layers of complex financing as well as innovative design and construction methods were the only way the building could be saved.

The difficulties inherent in renovation included the removal of tons of lead cooling pipes, extensive tuckpointing, replacement of entire sections of brick that were failing and extensive roof repairs.

When completed, the National Terminal Apartments became an integral part of Cleveland’s downtown resurgence, bringing distinctive high-quality housing to downtown and giving residents access to Progressive Field and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
