Located on the Fox River in De Pere, Wisconsin, the C.A. Lawton Company General Machine and Foundry Shop was originally built in 1880. Just three weeks before the building faced demolition in the early 1990s The Alexander Company stepped in to preserve the foundry.

Many of the outstanding historic elements were retained in order to preserve the integrity of the foundry.

The red brick building has a decidedly urban relationship with the street, yet features resplendent landscaped courtyards and walks among the buildings. Complementing these unique attributes are the large multi-paned windows which enhance interior spaciousness, allow for an abundance of natural light, and afford splendid views of the landscaped courtyard, Voyageur Park, the Fox River, and the downtown community.

The Lawton Foundry Apartments were a portion of the De Pere Master Development – a redevelopment following ten years of planning and preparation by De Pere’s Main Street Project.
