Developer reveals updated rendering, plans for Printworks Mill mixed-use project

Most of the details have been finalized, and construction is expected to begin in the third quarter on the Triad’s next former mill facility to be transformed into an apartment community.

Printworks Mill, developed from the former Proximity Printworks Mill facility a short distance across Yanceyville Street from Revolution Mill in Greensboro, will offer 217 unique, mostly “affordable” apartments surrounded by outdoor amenities, including a swimming pool, a landscaped courtyard with grilling area, “tot lots” and park spaces with gazebos. Pets will be allowed.

Completion is anticipated in the second quarter of 2020.

“We’re very excited about the project,” David Vos, the project manager for Alexander Co., the Madison, Wis.-based developer, told Triad Business Journal. “We’ve made a few tweaks in the last few months.”

The 470,000-square-foot facility, which incorporates five former mill buildings, is planned to include 143 (more than 65 percent) “affordable” apartments with residents making no more than 60 percent of the average median income, 9,000 square feet of space for eating and drinking establishments and 80,000 square feet of climate-controlled, self-storage space in the first phase.
