The hope is to have the main concourse finished by 2027 before turning to side buildings, where apartments and businesses are envisioned.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation on Wednesday provided an update on where things stand in their efforts to renovate the historic landmark on Buffalo’s east side.
Buffalo Central Terminal, which ceased operation as a train station 45 years ago, is a subject of adoration form many residents. But it has also been the subject of many failed redevelopment plans since then.
Money spent during those years was largely used to shore up the art deco structure to keep it from deteriorating to the point of no return.
Those behind the most recent renovation effort have secured ten of millions of dollars from the State of New York and philanthropic partners to embark on an ambitious $300 million plan to bring new life to the terminal and its surrounding environs.
