A developer is advancing plans for up to 250 apartments along the Yahara River in Stoughton.

The Alexander Company, based in Madison, plans to build 122 apartments by the third quarter of 2027 on riverfront land near South Fourth Street and East South Street. A second phase of the Riverhavn project would roughly double the number of apartments at the site by 2030.

Stoughton’s City Council approved a development agreement for the project last week.

“Riverhavn is exactly the kind of thoughtful growth Stoughton has been working toward,” Mayor Tim Swadley said in a statement. “This project adds high-quality housing at a range of price points while enhancing the public realm along our riverfront.”
