For Reniqua Davis, living at Dan River Falls connects her not only to downtown Danville’s amenities but to the city’s past. Davis, 50, moved into her two-bedroom apartment at the newly developed former Dan River Inc. White Mill building Dec. 14.
“I just needed a change,” Davis told the Register & Bee during an interview Thursday afternoon. “It was something exciting and just to be part of that history and part of that change.”
The former North Pointe Apartments resident is now within walking distance of the River District’s restaurants, shops and the Riverwalk Trail. It’s all worth the $1,550 rent.
“The pricing was great, the amenities, the location,” said Davis, who works as a warehouse maintenance system supervisor for the Dollar General distribution center in South Boston.
The new Dan River Falls development in the former White Mill building began welcoming its first tenants nearly two weeks ago.
“It’s an exciting milestone for Dan River Falls,” Kendra Bishop, director of business development with The Alexander Co., the project’s Wisconsin-based developer, told the Register & Bee on Dec. 13. “While we’re still in the process of furnishing some lounge areas and installing artwork, we’re thrilled to be welcoming our first tenants this week.”
Rental rates vary from $1,300 to $2,100 a month, depending on the unit size and layout, Bishop said.
“These rental rates reflect the high-quality amenities, one-of-a-kind location and unique living experience offered at this beautifully rehabilitated historic community,” she said. All 150 apartments in the development will be filled up by spring 2025, Bishop said.
“Interest in the building has been strong, and we’re excited to see the community take shape over the coming months,” she said. Half of the 150 units are complete and ready for move-in, while the remaining apartments are on track to be ready by March, she said.
