The Dan River Falls project at the former White Mill building is taking applications from those interested in renting an apartment.

Starting Monday, applications are being accepted for two phases of move-in dates, the project’s development company announced.

Kendra Bishop, director of business development for The Alexander Co., told the Danville Register & Bee there were more than 1,500 people on its “interest list” for one of the 150 apartments.

“Never in all my years have I seen such a dedicated level of interest,” Bishop said. “I’ve even had people sharing their summer vacation schedules with me so they can make sure they don’t miss announcements.”

Dan River Falls was set to open the application process Monday morning with a mass email notification to its interest list, as well as updates on Facebook and Instagram, she said.

The move-in dates will be based on the phases of building completion: November and January, Bishop said.

“We know this day has been highly anticipated,” Joe Alexander, president of The Alexander Co., said in a prepared statement. “It has been incredibly meaningful to witness firsthand how important this project is to the community. You’ve been watching the exterior transformation, and we’re thrilled to share a glimpse of what you can expect to see inside in a few months.”

Rental rates are now set, with ranges based on size, views, and whether they’re market-rate or workforce housing, Bishop said.
