GREENSBORO — A Wisconsin-based company will inject tens of millions of dollars into an area north of downtown that is becoming a full-scale mill district of apartments, restaurants and retail.
The Alexander Co. will spend $54 million renovating the Printworks Mill on Fairview Street into another hub of activity to the east of the Revolution Mill apartment, retail and office complex that Self-Help Ventures Fund has developed. Self-Help’s $125 million project across Yanceyville Street features apartments, artist spaces and restaurants including Natty Greene’s Kitchen + Market.
The Alexander Co. will begin work in June on the 470,000-square-foot Printworks complex that once housed a fabric printing operation for Cone Mills called Proximity Print Works, which closed in 1977.
